Mixcraft 6 had an issue where it consistently crashed while mixing down to an uncompressed. You can zoom almost infinitely into samples for precise editing When watching someone demo it, I saw their identical waves plugins had more options, which I assume are protools exclusive. All the professionals use it, so there must be something special about it My initial reasons for wanting to move to protools (Some of these are issues I had with mixcraft which I assumed protools wouldn't have) I had no idea that I'd have to pay again in a year. I purchased protools 11 boxed (student price) from sweetwater. I had absolutely no idea this was a thing. It's so much good thinking into MC, so I just cannot let it pass - I know it will be even better. I feel the urge of finishing things, make new songs.

You know you have to pay renewal of subscription in a year, right? - or you will have to buy a new full license later, you cannot upgrade it.ДЇor me Mixcraft is really fluent workflow and a joy to work with. See to that you really get all working - while you are under subscription. What is missing in MC 7 now compared to PT and most top daws:ДЄllowing any number of nesting of submixes I'm not on a deadline to get things finished - so I can wait for things in Mixcraft to mature in the mixing part. Then MC7 came and 64-bit and all - just a month later - what a treat.Дon't expect MC7 to replace PT - PT can do many more things and mixing part is much better giving you overview and control.

I found PT manual very extensive and good - so try that out? In meantime I studied manual front to back(1200 pages) to prepare. I had PT on my table this fall, but returned it(unopened) when I figured out Avid's new upgrade/subscription policy. If you had Mixcraft for two years - what made you take the step into PT in the first place? I would consider PT as a recording device - not a song creation tool. You have Avid 'world class support' for a year before then want your money again, so you should use that to at least have it figured out. Many people I've encountered in different forums do just that: write in their DAW of choice and then dump it into and present it in PT. Learn enough of it that you can import the audio stems you produce in Mixcraft and save it so you can present it in that format to any of the elitist 'pro' studios that insist on receiving work in that format. I would suggest since you have it, keep it. If that were my only choice for a DAW I'd be doing a lot more fishing and a lot less composition.which isn't necessarily a bad thing but not what I want to be doing at this moment. So my question is - since I've already spent a small fortune on protools, should I stick with it and try to figure it out? It's extremely bloated, it takes forever to load, it's unintuitive, it constantly stalls or freezes, and half the things I do give me error messages that force me to restart. I built a massive protools rig running windows 7, and finally got it up and running today. I recently purchased protools after being an avid (heh) mixcraft 6 user for almost 2 years.
